Service Projects for 2017
Is your group looking to invest in Harvest Hills through your gifts of time and service? Do you want to see your efforts help build a new ministry to reach the youth and families of our local community?
These projects are being completed with the goal to bring people to the Farm, because the more often they are here, the more often they have the opportunity to be loved on and encouraged in their walk with Jesus.
Here are some things we are working on and would love for you to be a part of them! Have your group sign up to sponsor and/ or build one or ALL of the projects!
Project #1
Project #1 - Bunk Bed Blitz
Luke 9:58 “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”
Harvest Hills is a place that boys and girls, men and women can become more like Christ. But while doing so, we want them to have a place to lay their head.
Purpose: This spring and summer we are converting what is known as the “Basketball barn” into a bunk house. The BunkHouse will be able to hold 75-100 people at one time. The purpose of building these bunks is to provide fixed sleeping arrangements, so the farm is always ready to accommodate an overnight, regardless of the weather. This will allow for youth groups, small groups, teen events and churches to be able to utilize the farm for their own retreats, leadership activities, and youth events that fit their needs.
Mission Statement : Encourage community among teens and families in order to grow relationships in Jesus Christ.
Projected Finish Date: August 20, 2017
Skill and tools required: This project will require basic to moderate carpentry skills. This is a good project for families with children age 10 or older or a team of people. We can provide circular saws, tape measures, plans, socket sets, drills, and drivers. If you have any of these things, that would help as well. There will be plans on site for how to build these bunk beds.
Projected cost:
8 stalls 6-8 bunks per stall, depending on size
Per bunk $75
Per stall $600
Flooring Per Stall $350
Total Costs $8,000
Project #2
Project #2 - Picnic Table Project
Acts 2:46 “Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts…”
Purpose:
As people come to gather, we need places for them to easily take a seat, stay awhile, and connect with each other.
Plan:
We would like to build 12 picnic tables to allow for larger gatherings and group to have somewhere to sit while they eat and relax.
Mission Statement:
Strengthen faith and family by providing a place for families to gather.

Project #3 - Friendly Farm Petting Zoo/Play area
Purpose:
As we work to make Harvest Hills farm a place families come to be together, what better way than with some friendly farm animals and a play area for all the kiddos!!
Plan:
We will be re-purposing a “wood shed” into a small petting zoo and building a play area for kids. This will include building slides, climbing walls, bunny hutches and goat stalls, making a pasture for a pig or llama… maybe? Get your creative juices flowing - It’s going to be fun!
Mission Statement : Strengthen faith and family by providing a place for families to gather.
Projected Finish Date: July 20, 2017
Skill and tools required: This project will require basic carpentry skills, ability to dig holes, and move materials. This is a good project for families with children age 5 or older or a team of people with a team lead familiar with the previous skills mentioned. This is in a conceptual phase right now, and the plans are soon to be developed. The project may include digging fence post holes, and installing new fencing for horses and other animals. Additionally, there will be some retrofitting of existing pasture stalls to accommodate small animals. We can provide circular saws, tape measures, plans, socket sets, drills, hammers, saws, drivers, post-hole diggers, spud bars, and shovels. If you have any of these things, that would help as well.
